Seek the Face of God in Times of Trials
Seek my face. In Psalm 27, David writes that he will seek God’s face. In this psalm David was seeking answers and seeking God’s mercy, much the same as us when we feel like life is crumbling and tumbling down on us. In fact, much like myself when the holy spirit told me “Seek my face.”
It reminded me of a time, some years ago, when I was travelling in Asia and it was the first time that i had become a committed Christian and I remember praying to God, to show me him. Every time I prayed I asked him to show me him. I wasn’t sure where or why I would ask him that, especially since the bible says “no one shall see my face and live.”
But what was interesting was that I felt his presence strongly and the holy spirit spoke clearly to my heart. I understood then, what seeking his face meant.
When you seek the face of God, you seek the presence of God in earnest. You want and desire nothing else but the presence of God. You can’t seek the face of God and the pleasures of the flesh, like success or your fleshly desires. It means you want to be surrounded by him and him alone.
And let me tell you there is no better feeling, nothing trumps the presence of God. I am inclined to think that you have to love the lord in order to seek him in earnest. David loved the lord and who knows about the trials of life better than David. If you’re going through a difficult time in your life (personal or professional) – whatever difficulty it may be, don’t seek solutions. Yes you read correctly. Seek God instead and watch him transform your life.
