Finding love as a single Christian

Single Christians have it tough. Prior to becoming a Christian you may have found dating easy and there may have never been a shortage of available partners, but the moment you committed your life to Christ, you realised that your dating options have decreased dramatically, as though mockingly challenging you to choose between relationships and your faith.

There is nothing wrong with a Christian dating a non-believer, however when you are truly in Christ, you would rather someone who is on the same page as you are, someone whose heart is convicted by the holy spirit and someone who is in it for marriage. But you soon learn that your options are few.

Along your single journey you might get depressed and you will undoubtedly pray for God to bring you closer to your future spouse, but you realise that the more you pray, the further away the spouse becomes. LOL! It’s no laughing matter, I apologise. And very often you might feel like giving up on God because he hasn’t provided those needs. But be encouraged, God hears you and if you don’t lose faith, he’ll show up for you.

In the meantime, here are a few practical tips you can apply while you wait. 1) Join groups and organisations where you can meet lots of new people. 2) Start a group or get together and invite single people. 3) Get your fellow Christian friends (if you have any) to set you up on dates. 4) Start a hobby or hobbies and get to meet people who have similar interests. 5) Online dating seems to be the thing du jour, so go ahead and give it a try but be clear that you are interested in meeting people who have a relationship with God.

There is no need to sit around and feel sorry of yourself. The world is your oyster so get out there and do the things you love and that will bring you so much joy. And who knows…it might even bring you closer to your significant other.

Stay blessed.
