The Enemy is Real and He's Busy

The enemy has nothing better to do with his time than to seek those he might devour. I don’t know if Satan is bored or what, but that dude and his hunchos are relentless. They are on the prowl every single moment in the lives of Christians, successfully deceiving us, making us question God, making us fall into the pitfall of strongholds and boy, is he succeeding with some of us.

Not too long ago, I had a face-to-face encounter with the enemy. It was around midnight and I had just fallen asleep after another ordinary day. A few hours later, in the early morning hours, I felt a weird presence in the room. It made me uncomfortable but I just put it down to my imagination. I tried to go back to sleep when a heavy presence came over me, physically. I tried to fight it off, but I couldn’t. I was powerless against it. It had its arms crossed over my neck, pushing me down as if it wanted to push me into my grave.

Hard as I tried, I couldn’t fight it. And then I heard myself saying, “Jesus is stronger” with the little strength I could muster. I repeated it over and over again and the more I said it, the pressure of the hands on my neck diminished until he disappeared. But the scariest part of all, was that I saw his face. And it’s not what you’d think. There’s no horns or a red devil suit. It was the face of a man with long hair, pale skin and while I could see his eyes, I couldn’t see the colour.

The thing, whatever it was, was absolutely furious with me. I must have done something right. I suppose that’s how Christians know they’re on the right path – the devil comes out personally to attack you!

But in all seriousness, we are powerless against the enemy without the armour of God. Without it, we’re toast. The enemy is allergic to the name of Jesus, it freaks him out. So my plight to you, is to stay in the word, every day. Satan knows us and he knows what our triggers are, what our issues are and what our weaknesses are. And make no mistake, he’ll zone in our weaknesses and our vulnerabilities and he’ll use it against us and without even being aware of it, we’ll use it against God. For example, we’ll start questioning God and doubting him.

Be of a sober mind, always…

Stay blessed.
