God has not changed since the existence of the world. He is the same God now as he has always been. So why do we think he is in favour of the culture? Why do we want to modify God to suit our desires? In the book of Jeremiah, God rebukes pastors and false teachers who mislead his sheep, who twists the word of God to suit them and to be “soothing” to people. God is about his word and about truth. If you’re not okay with that, you have no business being a Christian.
There has never been a rock concert mentioned in the bible, yet mega churches lure people into “church” and have smoke come out from the stage while people sing hymns to God. Now please tell me, if these people who run after these church rock stars were to be in a church where angelic hymns were sung to the Lord, would they stay? Probably not. Why? Because they don’t have the spirit of God in them. They’re after the music and charismatic entertainers who call themselves preachers.
According to some pastors Christians have to be okay with transgenders. And to be fair, they’re people too. Here’s what Christians shouldn’t do, they shouldn’t normalise them and go along with their beliefs or anything that goes against the word of God. These are people who are displeased with the way God made them. But most of all, they’re people who don’t believe in God or care about the word of God. Because if they did, they wouldn’t do what they do to themselves.
Christians should not be entertaining the world and the culture. Boring as that may sound, it is true. You can’t serve God and the evil one. You’re either on God’s side or you’re not. It’s as simple as that.
The next time you’re inclined to give in to the culture, ask yourself if it fits the word of God. And if it doesn’t then walk away. God is so graceful that even in your sin, he’ll be there for you, but he’s tremendously pleased with those who choose him, wholeheartedly.
